They divorce after almost six years

Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef are getting divorced. They have chosen to end their “marriage with love, respect and dignity”.
After nearly six years of marriage, Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, 51, and his partner, artist Jwan Yosef, 38, are going their separate ways. Both of them have confirmed in a joint statement to the US magazine “People”.
Martin and Yosef would like to raise children together
“We have chosen to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and to honor what we have shared as a couple throughout these wonderful years,” the statement said. The partners’ greatest desire now is to “continue to maintain a healthy family dynamic and a relationship focused on peace and friendship, to continue raising our children together and to maintain the respect and love we have for one another “.
Martin and Yosef met at the end of 2015. They officially became a couple in 2016, made their red carpet debut a little later and also announced their engagement. In early 2018, the singer then confirmed that the two had secretly married. They have two children together – their daughter Lucia, born in 2018, and son Renn, who was born in 2019. Martin also has twin sons Matteo and Valentino, who were born in 2008.
In 2021, Martin had spoken to Yosef about other children. “Yes, we want more”, he had explained to the magazine. The singer fondly remembers Sundays at his grandparents’ home, surrounded by their 34 grandchildren. “I used to say, ‘One day I want to open the door to my house and see a lot of kids running up to me and saying, ‘Dad, Daddy, Daddy!’ It’s something I’ve always dreamed of.”
