The case against Ricky Martin has apparently been dropped. The singer speaks of a “devastating” experience.
According to media reports, court proceedings against Ricky Martin (50) have been discontinued. The singer’s nephew who accused Martin asked a Puerto Rican court to such as the industry magazine “Variety” and Write “People”..
The 50-year-old’s nephew previously claimed he was in a relationship with him. “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew, and never would be,” Martin’s attorney said in a recent statement to multiple US media outlets. including to the industry portal “Deadline”. “The idea is not only untrue, it’s disgusting,” it said. The person who made the claim is said to be struggling with “deep mental challenges”. According to media reports, a Puerto Rican court had already issued an injunction in connection with a domestic violence law against Martin in early July.
No more than “false accusations”
This provisional protection order will not be extended “as we expected,” Martin’s legal team said in a statement. which he published on Twitter. The plaintiff confirmed in court that he alone made the decision not to pursue the case – “without any outside influence or pressure”. It was therefore never more than “false allegations”. One is glad “that justice has been done to our client and he can now move forward with his life and career”.
That US celebrity portal “TMZ” meanwhile published a video, in which Martin has his say. “Thank God” has been proven, according to him, that the allegations made are false. The truth is that the experience was “painful”. “It was devastating for me, for my family, for my friends. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
He wishes only the best for the plaintiff who alleged “this nonsense”. He hopes that he “finds help so that he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy – and he doesn’t hurt anyone else”. Martin’s top priority now is “to heal”. He can do that with music and that’s why he can’t wait to return to the stage soon. He also thanked his friends and fans for giving him strength.
