RICOCHET nerfs Warzone cheaters with a shield

In a report by anti-cheat RICOCHET, Call of Duty confirmed that a damage shield nerfs cheaters in games of Warzone.

A recent progress report from the Call of Duty team detailed some rather interesting information about the RICOCHET anti-cheat and how it tackles cheaters in your games of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific.

We can say that opinions about RICOCHET diverge since its arrival in December 2021. At first, the community was delighted to see that the developers were making real efforts to fight cheaters by banning thousands of accounts, even if everything hasn’t been rosy and that clever people are still slipping through the cracks.

The RICOCHET anti-cheat system was introduced to Warzone as soon as the new Caldera map launched.

Recently, players have even wondered if the anti-cheat was still active because they were encountering hackers in their games. In the end, we learned that the system was indeed active from the start and even hit cheaters with a “damage shield” to nerf them mid-game.

In their report, they confirmed a new influx of cheaters with software vendors developing new technologies to circumvent RICOCHET. Additionally, they brought information about the techniques they use to ban cheaters from Warzone.

What is RICOCHET’s Damage Shield?

This special shield prevents cheaters from dealing damage in-game. When a cheater shoots you, you take no damage. It is a revolutionary technology which is highly appreciated by the community.

The Call of Duty team also said that this shield will never be applied to a player who doesn’t cheat, which is very reassuring.
