For the first time in Call of Duty history, Activision’s anti-cheat, RICOCHET, will roll out day one on the franchise’s upcoming installments, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
Having to deal with the omnipresence of cheaters is unfortunately the daily lot of Call of Duty players, and has been for years. Each installment of the franchise has paid the price and with the release of Warzone, a battle royale accessible for free, the situation has only worsened.
Over the months, Activision has multiplied the stratagems to overcome this scourge which is straining the patience of the community, but nothing helped. Playing it all for the trick, they gradually rolled out in 2021 a custom anti-cheat, RICOCHET, designed from A to Z for the franchise.
Although it is far from infallible, with cheaters still rampant in the battle royale, Activision continues to rely on its in-house anti-cheat. We now know for sure that the next installments in the franchise, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, will benefit from this from day one.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will debut with RICOCHET
Activision has confirmed to Charlie Intel that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will feature RICOCHET upon release.
Rather than relying on a gradual deployment as was the case with Warzone, they preferred to put the package from the start, so that cheaters are less present when players make their debut on these different titles.
While Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch on October 28, 2022, it’s still unclear when the Warzone sequel will be available, although several leaks hint at an early 2023 release.
Although RICOCHET is not flawless, part of the Call of Duty community welcomes the presence of this anti-cheat, which, coupled with the regular waves of bans, improves their daily life somewhat.
The RICOCHET anti-cheat system uses a kernel-level driver that detects all software and applications that could be used to hack or cheat in Warzone, allowing the security team to react quickly.
In the progress report, the developers reassured players that while unfortunately it will still be possible to encounter cheaters in both titles, the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will continue to “getting smarter and better over time.”
It remains to be seen if its presence from the launch of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will allow players to have a better experience than when Vanguard launched. Anyway, the fight against cheaters seems to be a top priority for Activision and the studios in charge of developing new Call of Duty games.
