How the pricing table works
Ricoh continues to remake its entry-level waterproof cases. After a WG-70 which added to its arsenal only a series of filters compared to the previous model, the WG-80 does not really intend to change the situation either. Slightly revamped, the WG-80 retains exactly the same characteristics as the WG-70 and only the LED lighting around the lens has undergone a small change.
We are therefore still in the presence of a very resistant device. It is not afraid of drops up to 14 meters and is waterproof without housing up to 1.6 m. The back-illuminated CMOS sensor is still 16 megapixels in 1/2.3 “format and the device retains 28-140 optics (in 24×36 equivalent). The video also remains blocked in Full HD and 30 fps. The only The real novelty is to be credited to the lighting.Indeed, the six LED lamps installed around the lens and intended to facilitate macro shooting and portraits have seen their power increased.According to Ricoh, the WG- 80 provides almost twice the light intensity of its predecessor, and you can also fine-tune the light to suit different situations.
For the rest, we therefore retain all the other specificities of the WG-70 with face detection and numerous filters to optimize the shots. The device can also digitally zoom up to 1008mm and charging is via a micro-USB port.
Price and availability
The Ricoh WG-80 will be marketed from mid-June 2022 at a price of €329, an increase of €30 compared to the WG-70 which was launched in March 2020. Note that the device is sold in its dresses black or orange.
