“Gladiator 2” has been in planning for years, and now the sequel is taking shape. According to director Ridley Scott, the script is already finished.

In 2000, Ridley Scott (83) breathed new life into the antique film mocked as the “sandal film” with “Gladiator”. There was always talk of a continuation of the historical spectacle, in autumn 2018 there was finally the green light for “Gladiator 2”. According to director Scott, a finished script is already in place.

In an interview about his new film “House of Gucci” (December 2nd in the cinema) asked “deadline” Ridley Scott also commented on the Gladiator 2 booth. The star director casually dropped that the script was already in place: “It’s already written. We have a good starting point to go to. You can’t just make another Gladiator-type film. You have to start with the first one There are enough components from the first film to pick up the ball “.

“Gladiator 2”: The possible story

One point where the creators around Ridley Scott will probably pick up is the story of Lucius. In the first part, Maximus, played by Russell Crowe (57), saves the son of his former lover Lucilla from being murdered by his uncle Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix, 47).

Maximus himself is said to appear in the sequel, although he is known to have not survived the end of part one. Nothing is known about the actors yet, but Chris Hemsworth (38) has already publicly expressed his interest.

Ridley Scott, who is extremely busy for his age, has just shot two films. In addition to “House of Gucci”, the medieval spectacle “The Last Duel” was recently shown in cinemas. Next up is also a period film: “Kitebag” with Joaquin Phoenix in the role of Napoleon Bonaparte. Then “Gladiator 2” should follow.
