Right of way disregarded – drug driver causes crash when turning maneuver

On Friday afternoon there was a traffic accident in the area of the new Dornbirn-Süd motorway junction. A 33-year-old disregarded the priority rules and “shot down” a Swiss woman’s car. One possible reason: the man was under the influence of drugs.

At around 3:20 p.m., a 61-year-old Swiss woman was driving her car on the L45 Swiss road in Dornbirn in the direction of Lustenau. At the level of the Dornbirn-Süd motorway junction, she continued straight ahead when the light was green. At the same time, an oncoming 33-year-old driver wanted to turn left onto the L39 “An der Fuhr”. Due to the man’s right-of-way violation, a collision occurred, with both vehicles sustaining significant frontal damage. Drug test was positive. The woman from Switzerland was slightly injured in the collision. According to the police, a saliva test carried out on the person who caused the accident was positive for THC.
