Amthor becomes Union spokesman for state reform

The Union parliamentary group is repositioning itself in the opposition. Philipp Amthor will also get a new post as a specialist spokesman for state organizations. He also wants to make creative suggestions himself, as he says ntv.

Member of the Bundestag, Philipp Amthor, will hold the new position of specialist spokesman for state organization and state modernization in the Union parliamentary group. This was announced by the CDU and CSU parliamentary group. What seems very technical as a name, however, according to the CDU politician Amthor, concerns a central topic of the new electoral term: the state reform.

“On the subject of state reform, the traffic light made great promises in flowery terms in its coalition agreement that have yet to pass the reality test,” said Amthor, the chairman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania CDU regional group, on ntv. “In this regard, we as the opposition should not only have the right to uncover contradictions in traffic lights, but above all to submit creative suggestions ourselves.”

Amthor cited the reorganization of responsibilities between the federal government and the federal states or a more efficient federal government structure as examples. “Important reforms are also pending for the state organs themselves, for example with regard to the right to vote or with a view to a potential term of office for future Federal Chancellors,” said Amthor.

The new function as specialist spokesman for the Union parliamentary group for state organization will be a cross-cutting task between several specialist working groups in the Bundestag parliamentary group. This applies in particular to the two working groups, Interior and Law.
