Guest of Romain Desarbres, Sylvain Maillard, president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, discussed the nomination of Rima Hassan, pro-Palestinian activist, on the France Insoumise list for the European elections. The presence of the activist as a candidate for the European elections “shows the ambiguity of LFI vis-à-vis anti-Semitism”, according to Sylvain Maillard.

“An absolute disgrace.” At the microphone of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews, Sylvain Maillard, president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, condemns the presence of Rima Hassan, a pro-Palestinian activist with a profile considered controversial, in the France Insoumise list for the European elections in June next. According to him, this appointment is “the most execrable France Insoumise can do by sending a representative of the idea that Hamas is a movement for the liberation of Palestine. It is a terrorist movement that we need combat”.

The presence of the activist as a candidate for the European elections “shows the ambiguity of LFI vis-à-vis anti-Semitism”, continues Sylvain Maillard. With Rima Hassan, placed 7th in the list carried by France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party seeks “to seduce the anti-Semitic electorate”.

An Insubordinate Clientelist France

According to the president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, part of France Insoumise turns out to be “clientelist” and perceives the inhabitants of working-class neighborhoods as “anti-Semites”. “They therefore validate the most nauseating theses to get a few deputies elected,” he explains. He considers it “infamous” that Rima Hassan could potentially represent France in the European Parliament.
