(CercleFinance.com) – Rio Tinto has increased its spending with its suppliers and local businesses in Australia to reach more than 16.1 billion Australian dollars in 2023.
This is an increase of 5% from the previous year to more than 5,800 companies.
‘This spending has supported tens of thousands of jobs in Australia and made a significant economic contribution to communities across the country,’ the group said.
As part of this spending, more than A$727 million was spent with 168 Indigenous businesses across Australia, an increase of 29% from the previous year.
‘We strive to employ locally and buy locally in Australia, particularly from indigenous businesses, small businesses and regional businesses,’ the group says.
