Rio tinto ord: Paid $8.5 billion in taxes and royalties in 2023


(CercleFinance.com) – Rio Tinto indicates that it has paid a total of $8.5 billion in taxes and royalties in 2023 worldwide.

A year earlier, this amount had risen to $10.8 billion, including $1.5 billion in Australian corporate taxes linked to previous years.

In Australia – home to almost half of the company’s global operations – taxes and royalties totaled $6.6 billion (or AU$10 billion) paid in 2023, including corporation tax paid $4.1 billion (A$6.2 billion).

Rio Tinto also made significant tax and royalty payments to Canada ($601 million), Chile ($477 million), Mongolia ($371 million) and the United States ($123 million). dollars).

Over the past ten years, Rio Tinto says it has paid $76 billion in taxes and royalties globally, with more than 78% of that going to Australia.
