Rise in the price of the PS5: Xbox and Nintendo take advantage of it!

We thought we were celebrating video games this week with Gamescom and its announcements, but it’s finally bad news that has come to light this week: the PS5 is seeing its price increase by €50 now. A delicate situation for one of the manufacturers on the market with the strongest kidneys and to which Xbox and Nintendo have added their two cents by confirming that no price increase would disrupt the life of their machines.

Xbox and Nintendo draw

24 hours apart, the two manufacturers split responses to the press indicating that the Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles would not experience the slightest price increase, despite the complicated economic context. The supply difficulties remain very real, however, Microsoft has even indicated that they would surely not be able to meet the demand for these end-of-year celebrations.

Although we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently have no plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased procurement costs in each country. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and ongoing deliberation.

A delicate position for Sony

With these two quick positions taken by the main competitors of the Japanese manufacturer, Sony PlayStation’s arguments to explain the price increase of the PS5 in several territories are much less audible. Despite everything, the PS5 is in such demand, even 2 years after its release, that players will pay it at this price without complaining if stocks allow it. Still, it’s a first for a home console to see its price increase during generation.at least if we put aside the Meta Quest 2 also saw its price increase a few weeks ago.

After a first season that suffered critical and public failure, Netflix made the decision that was essential concerning the live-action series Resident Evil. Despite decent ratings for the first two weeks, this cancellation should come as no surprise.
