Risen is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Series sadly stopped after a third installment below its predecessors, risen will have nevertheless marked the Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 generation with its original proposal, mixing the heritage of the license gothic to a requirement of each moment. While these were productions initially intended for the PC.

It was enough for THQ Nordic, formerly Nordic Games, to acquire the production rights, and to start a port of the first episode for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. And no, we’re not talking about remastering here!

Immerse yourself in a unique adventure

It’s now official, risen is available on older consoles. No PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S version on the program, unfortunately. But you can, of course, play it anyway on these two media, goes the PS4 and One editions.

That said, don’t expect a stellar remastering job, since at first glance, it is a port in the strict sense of the game of the time (hopefully with some fixes). The launch trailer only talks about the game itself, implying that it does not include any new features.

It must be said that the visual aspect has not changed an inch since the PC version of 2009. It is worth noting that the Switch version of risenthe trailer of which you will find below, promises to be even less pleasing to the eye than its sisterswith less fine resolution and textures.

It remains to be seen, ultimately, whether risen has aged well or not, and especially if it can still find its audience in 2023, a year that already promises to be rich in role-playing games. But we imagine that this porting is more intended to make players wait patiently for a gothic remake more ambitious.
