Ford is recalling 100,000 hybrid cars

The second largest US automaker Ford has to repair numerous vehicles due to fire risks. Around 100,000 hybrid cars from the last two years are to be returned to the workshop. In addition, an existing recall campaign will be expanded.
Ford is recalling 100,000 hybrid-powered cars in the United States because of the risk of fire. The recall affects Ford Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair vehicles built between 2020 and 2022, the US automaker said.
In the event of engine failure, significant amounts of engine oil and fuel vapors could be released. These could collect near ignition sources and lead to a possible under-hood fire. So far there have been no accidents or injuries.
The second-largest US automaker is also expanding a May recall by 27,000 vehicles after five more fires were reported. The Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2021 are affected. There is a risk of fire here even without a running engine, which is why affected vehicles should not be parked in front of buildings. One person was injured in connection with the technical defect. Ford topped all US automakers this year prior to the new announcement with 44 recalls for 6.7 million vehicles.
