"A year ago today," Rita Wilson wrote on Instagram. She and Tom Hanks were the first Hollywood stars to contract Covid-19.

Rita Wilson (64, "Bigger Picture") and her equally famous husband Tom Hanks (64, "Sleepless in Seattle") were the first Hollywood stars to test positive for the corona virus in March 2020. At the time, the couple, who have been married since 1988, were in Australia. The actress and singer now remembers on Instagram: "A year ago today I played at the Sydney Opera House, the next day I began to feel very tired and in pain, two days later I was hospitalized with Covid-19."

Wilson and Hanks had to stay in hospital quarantine for five days. They then moved into a rented house near the clinic. There the couple spent more days in isolation before returning to their native USA. Today, Wilson writes, she would like to "take a moment to say how grateful we are for our health and for the medical care we have received in Queensland." The couple also share "the grief of every person who has lost a loved one to this virus".
