Roanne: what we know about the case of the sexual assault of a six-year-old girl

In Roanne, a father took the law into his own hands by attacking a teenager whom he suspected of touching his six-year-old daughter. The teenager, a 16-year-old isolated minor, was prescribed a total incapacity for work (ITT) of ten days. An investigation for “aggravated violence in meetings committed with a weapon by destination” has been opened against the father of the family and his friends.

The mother came face to face with the young man

According to the victim’s family’s account, a young man broke into their home around 3 a.m. Thursday night. He goes up to the little girl’s room and sexually assaults her. The victim’s mother, who hears a noise, goes upstairs and comes face to face with the young man. She immediately calls her companion, but the intruder flees. The next morning, the parents will file a complaint but doubt the ability of the police to find the attacker.

“It’s just an angry reaction”

“They expected after that that police patrols would be made around his house and in the neighborhood because he felt that the attacker was still close to his house. The story proved him right since the the next day, one of his friends called to tell him that a man was prowling around his home,” said Maître Jean-François Canis, the lawyer for the girl’s father. “He took a picture of him, he showed the picture to his wife who recognized him. And there, it is true that he lost his temper and that he committed violence. It is obvious that he regrets it, but it is simply an angry reaction and certainly not a vendetta, certainly not the will to take justice into his own hands.”

The teenager denies the facts

The 16-year-old teenager, an unaccompanied minor, is beaten up, whipped with an electric cable by the father of the family and three of his friends who end up informing the police. The young man, indicted for sexual assault on a minor under the age of 15 and placed in pre-trial detention, denies the facts.

The public prosecutor of Roanne, Abdelkrim Grini, recalled that “in France, we do not do justice ourselves” and specified that “justice has worked very well” since the young man was arrested and then imprisoned . However, in the city of Roanne, the feeling is very different, as evidenced by the reactions of the inhabitants of the district. “We all love each other, we are good with each other, the other is coming, this guy is a savage, and they reacted like a savage with him, that’s how it should be done, you have to give them a lesson”, said one of the neighbors of the victim’s father at the microphone of our colleagues from CNews.
