Rising star meets old master: Robert De Niro and "Star Wars" star John Boyega are said to have hired for a Netflix film.
Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro (77, "Dirty Grandpa") and "Star Wars" star John Boyega (28) are working together for the streaming provider Netflix. According to the US industry website "Deadline", the two actors will direct a film called "The Formula" under the direction of Gerard McMurray ("The First Purge"). Accordingly, McMurray should be director, screenwriter and producer in personal union.
The film is said to revolve around a Formula 1 driver who is forced to play the getaway driver to protect his family. Further details about the plot or a possible release date are not known.
For De Niro, it would be the second film made for Netflix. In 2019, the 77-year-old was seen in Martin Scorsese's (78) gangster epic "The Irishman". John Boyega gained worldwide fame for his role as Finn in the most recent Star Wars sequel trilogy.
