Robert Downey Jr. could be investigating as a cult detective again. Two new Sherlock Holmes series are said to be in the works.

Two new series based on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes are said to be in an early development phase on the US streaming service HBO Max. This is reported by the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”. The productions are said to be based on the famous short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930).

Robert Downey Jr. played Sherlock

Robert Downey Jr. (57) is involved in the development of both series with his production company Team Downey. He is said to be one of the executive producers. At this early stage it is not yet clear whether the Hollywood star will be seen again as a cult detective.

In 2009, Downey Jr. played Sherlock in Guy Ritchie’s (53) film “Sherlock Holmes”. At the side of the actor, Jude Law (49) appeared as Dr. Watson up. In 2011, the two returned to their respective roles for the sequel Sherlock Holmes: Shadow Game.

It is currently unclear whether the planned series should be linked. Further details are also still unknown. There is also no official confirmation of the alleged work on the series.
