Robert Pattinson: That's how brutal he is in the first "The Batman" trailer

How does Robert Pattinson become Batman? This is the question fans have been asking themselves since he took on the role. Now there is a first trailer.

The first trailer for "The Batman" is here. The clip that premiered at the "DC FanDome" event clearly shows: Director Matt Reeves (54) will present a dark flick about Bruce Wayne aka Batman, played by Robert Pattinson (34, "Twilight").

Commissioner James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright, 54) arrives at a crime scene to the sound of Nirvana's "Something In The Way". The perpetrator left a message for Batman on the corpse. "Can you think of anything?" Asks the investigator Batman. Another message emerges before the "Dark Knight" comes across a group of men with white painted faces: "What the hell are you?" Asks the leader. Batman then brutally beats up the man, then explains to him, "I am retribution." In addition to many other action scenes, Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz, 31) appears in the trailer.

Film announced for autumn 2021

Matt Reeves said of the famous character at the FanDome event, according to Entertainment Weekly, "It's about his early days as Batman and he's far from perfect." The film is "a detective story, a mystery, and of course there is action". It becomes "incredibly personal" for Batman: "He is a growing legend", but "not yet a symbol of hope". One of the things he has to deal with "is how he is perceived," says the director.

In addition to Pattinson and Kravitz, Paul Dano (36) as Edward Nashton / Riddler, Andy Serkis (56) as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell (44) as Oswald Cobblepot / Penguin will also star in the film. For the trailer, Reeves was not yet able to access all of the footage. Production started in London in January, but was temporarily interrupted at the beginning of March due to the coronavirus pandemic. "The Batman" should be released in the fall of 2021.
