Robin Williams: Moving documentary about his last days

Robin Williams was a gifted comedian and actor. A documentary will soon show his fight against Lewy body dementia.

US actor and comedian Robin Williams (1951-2014, "Jumanji") died almost six years ago. Vertical Entertainment has now released a moving first trailer for "Robin's Wish", a documentary about Williams. According to a report in the US magazine "Entertainment Weekly", the film will focus on the last days and months of the actor's life, who suffered from Lewy body dementia.

The documentation also includes old clips with Williams. At one point in the trailer he can be heard saying: "What matters most is others. That's what life is about." In the documentary, among others, Williams' widow Susan Schneider Williams (56) as well as friends and colleagues, including the director Shawn Levy (52), can be seen in interviews. Directed by Tylor Norwood.

He wanted to take away people's fear

In a statement, Schneider Williams explains how the name for the documentary came about. "Robin wanted to help us all be less afraid. That was Robin's wish," she says. The two would have talked about what they want to leave the world one day. Without having to think about it too much, Williams said at the time that he wanted to help people with this.

Williams and his wife had been married since 2011. It is not known whether his daughter Zelda (31), who comes from a previous marriage with the film producer Marsha Garces (64), or Williams' other children Zachary (37) and Cody (28) will have their say. The documentation should appear on September 1st.
