Roborock would be the “first robot vacuum manufacturer to implement such an initiative to reduce energy consumption”, according to the Chinese manufacturer. And the idea is not meaningless at a time when electricity bills can cringe at the end of the month.

The manufacturer has indeed made a small update to its application, also called Roborock, in order to offer a new functionality to owners of the S7 MaxV range, including the S7 MaxV, S7 MaxV Plus and S7 MaxV Ultra. This new function allows you to recharge your robot vacuum cleaner during off-peak hours at home. Thus, when the function is activated, the robot is fully charged during off-peak hours and only 30% during peak hours.

The “off-peak hours” function can be activated manually by going to the application settings, where the user can select the off-peak hours that suit him according to his locality.

How the pricing table works

As a reminder, this range is currently made up of three robot vacuum cleaners. The entry-level model, the S7 MaxV, does not have an automatic dump station; the S7 MaxV Plus benefits from a station that collects the dust placed in the collector; finally, the top of the range, the S7 MaxV Ultra, is equipped with a base equipped with three bins responsible for emptying the robot’s waste collector, filling its water tank and storing dirty water after cleaning.

The new off-peak charging feature will be available across this range from May 10. Roborock plans to roll out this update to other models as well as the Mi Home app in the coming months.
