Robot vacuum cleaners: Kärcher gives a layer and presents two new models

Kärcher is not at its first attempt. The German soil specialist had already presented a robot vacuum cleaner called RC 3, which we had tested in our laboratory.

The Kärcher catalog has recently been enriched with two new robot vacuum cleaner references: the RCV 3 and RCV 5. The first is equipped with a laser rangefinder allowing it to map its environment and better locate itself. Other sensors also dot the robot’s wings, for example to prevent it from falling down stairs.

The mobile application gives access to a detailed map of the home, with the possibility of creating prohibited areas for cleaning, for example. Multiple floors can be saved.

To vacuum at best, Kärcher equips its robot with a power of 2500 Pa and announces an autonomy of 120 minutes. A 500 ml dust collector is provided to contain the collected waste. A second dust container, called 2-in-1, is to be installed when the washing function is activated. Unlike the collector, the latter is capable of containing a small amount of water. Finally, a 170ml water tank can hook under the robot vacuum if the user wants to mop the floor.

The second reference, the RCV 5, is similar to the RCV 3, but includes some improvements. First of all, it has a power of 5000 Pa, which portends better suction results. In addition, in addition to the laser rangefinder also present on this model, a camera, two front lasers and artificial intelligence complete the navigation and obstacle management of the RCV 5.

This model would be able to recognize small objects passed under the radar of the laser rangefinder, such as socks or power cables. Objects subsequently indicated on the map provided by the mobile application.

Always in the interest of improvement, the Kärcher RCV 5 detects surfaces. He can thus increase his suction power in front of a carpet or avoid it when he puts on the mop. Its water tank is larger than that of the RCV 3 and can hold up to 240 ml of liquid. On this model, Kärcher provides only one dust collector, 330 ml.
