Rockstar Games loses one of its historical screenwriters

We almost come to believe that the brain drain never ends at Rockstar Games. Dan Houser, co-founder of the studio, had left the ship in 2020, to return through the creation of an independent firm in 2023. In April 2020, it was Lazlow Jones (screenwriter and head of writing for the radios of GTA) which took off, after 20 years of loyalty to Rockstar. We will also have a little thought for Leslie Benzies, one of the producers of the saga GTA from the third opus to the fifth, which had packed its bags in 2014 with losses, crashes and legal proceedings to complete the picture. And it was through the back door of Linkedin that we learned that Michael Unsworth was no longer part of the Rockstar Games workforce.

Unsworth playing games

If Michael Unsworth was a fairly discreet personality at Rockstar, he was nonetheless one of the brain bulbs of the company. Haunting the halls of the firm since 2007, Unsworth evolved from Senior Creative Writer to Writing Director, before being promoted to Vice President of Writing. writing) in 2016. He worked on the major titles of the studio: Max Payne 3, The blackboth Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV And V. Without knowing the reasons and circumstances of Michael Unsworth’s departure, and while GTA VI is in production, hard not to imagine that this loss could be without impact for Rockstar. No name has yet been put forward as Unsworth’s replacement as vice president of writing.
