The new update of GTA Online has reserved a very unpleasant surprise for fans of GTA 5. The heavy decision made by Rockstar does not pass at all.
Over the years, Rockstar has become adept at continually reigniting interest in GTA Online. The online mode of GTA 5 (became a standalone on PS5 and Xbox Series) is regularly updated with new content and players always respond. The latest, called GTA Online: Mercenaries of San Andreas, brings its share of novelties and nice surprises, such as the costumes of cult heroes from old episodes of GTA. Moreover, it would also seem that Rockstar took the opportunity to slip new clues concerning a big revelation to come. Fans who discovered the thing think that it would be here a teaser for GTA 6. Others think that it is only about a new troll. Case to follow.
But while it hides some fun little things, this latest update also has some dark secrets. Unfortunately, this patch doesn’t just add new content, it also removes some. And that doesn’t please players at all since they discovered the pot of roses.
A decision by Rockstar that does not pass with GTA 5 players
Before deploying the GTA Online: Mercenaries of San Andreas update, Rockstar had already warned that the least used vehicles would be removed from the game. On the other hand, the number of cars that would disappear from sale remained quite mysterious. Now that the update has been deployed, players have done the math: more than 180 vehicles have been removed by Rockstar. On Reddit, a fan listed all the cars now unavailable for purchase. Far too many for fans of GTA 5who do not understand this decision.
But it doesn’t stop there. What annoys players even more is that certain cars, which were therefore available for purchase with in-game currency before their disappearance, are now included … in the GTA + subscription. Only subscribers to the game’s paid service can obtain them at the Vinewood Car Club. Remember that GTA + allows you to take advantage of exclusive advantages, such as 500,000 GTA $ paid monthly, for the sum of € 5.99 per month. Luckily, it’s possible to become a member of the service, get the Vinewood Car Club vehicles, and then unsubscribe while keeping them.
Enough content to console fans?
The community is also surprised by the removal of very popular cars, such as the Comet Retro Custom or the Pegassi Infernus. Rockstar’s decision does not pass with the players, who are waiting for an explanation from the American studio. For now, maybe the new content brought by GTA Online: Mercenaries of San Andreas will manage to take away their frustration.
As a reminder, the latest update allows you to dive into the Subversion Project, which includes six new missions for 1 to 4 players, but also to discover new private contracts called “LSA Operations”. Fans will also be able to discover a new weapon, the tactical submachine gun. Finally, Rockstar has made an important change to the sprint that has been requested for quite some time by fans of GTA 5.
