Rodham: Drama series on Hillary-Clinton fiction planned

What if Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton? The fictional book "Rodham" poses this question – and will soon be made into a film.

Streaming provider Hulu is working on a series adaptation of the novel "Rodham" by Curtis Sittenfeld (44), as reported by the industry portal "The Hollywood Reporter". It is about Hillary Clinton, 72, whose maiden name is Rodham, and how her life would have been if she had never married Bill Clinton, 73. Whether the series will actually be implemented is still open.

Hulu's second Clinton project

"The Affair" co-author Sarah Treem (40) has been commissioned to write a script for the series based on the novel "Rodham". The template written by Sittenfeld appeared in May and has since become a bestseller. For Hulu, it would be the second project that focuses on Hillary Clinton. The four-part documentary "Hillary" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

However, the series is still in the development phase. A public call for the project from Hulus would be the next step towards publication. Treem's job is to pack the book template into a multi-part drama. In November, the author signed a contract with Fox 21 Television Studios that would be responsible for the production.

Hulu to start in Germany soon?

Until the time comes with the release, Hulu, which is majority owned by the Disney group, could also show the series in Germany. The rumors that Hulu will start in Germany in spring 2021 persist. This is also supported by the fact that Disney is currently expiring its major Netflix and Amazon Prime Video licenses for all major films and series. Disney took a similar approach to the Marvel productions, all of which are now exclusively available on Disney +.
