Rogue Legacy first of the name had forever changed the landscape of the rogue-lite genre, and its sequel, Rogue Legacy 2 took the time to polish itself through early access which has been available since summer 2020. After a year and a half of updates and fixes, Rogue Legacy 2 is finally ready to move to version 1.0, and Cellar Door Games announces to us (via a video broadcast at IGN) that this real release for the game will happen very soon.
An Xbox version also on the program
Take your diaries and note the date of April 28, which will see the release of Rogue Legacy 2 in its full version. The title will therefore be released on Steam and Epic Games Store, but also on Xbox One and Xbox Series the same day. We are now waiting to find out if it will also land in the Xbox Game Pass at the same time.
This version 1.0 therefore brings more content, more weapons, classes and abilities to make this sequel a real second episode, and not just a rehash of the first, although it retains its soul, like the says the studio in its press release:
” Our goal for Rogue Legacy 2 was always to make a ‘Rogue Legacy 3’, because we didn’t want to settle for just ‘more’. It had to stay true to the original, but also stand out as something new. After nearly four years in development, bringing it to fans is the final step on this long journey, and we hope they find it as special as we do. ยป
