The highly anticipated Roland-Garros tournament began this Monday, with the traditional qualifying week. It will continue until the weekend of June 8 and 9, with all the finals. Will Novak Djokovic break his own record? How many participants will compete this year? What prizes will the winners win? Here are the ten figures to know about this 123rd edition of Roland-Garros.

25

This is the number of Grand Slam titles that Novak Djokovic could win if he wins the 2024 edition of the French Open on Parisian clay. If he is already the most successful player in the history of tennis, ahead of the Spaniard Rafael Nadal (22 Grand Slam titles) and the Swiss Roger Federer (20), Novak Djokovic could thus improve his own record.

4

Iga Swiatek, who won the 2020, 2022 and 2023 editions, could win her fourth title if she wins this 2024 edition. The Polish player would thus become the third to have won at least four titles in the French tournament.

256

The number of players present in the main draws of Roland-Garros in singles.

280

This year, 280 ball boys will be present on the courts. As in each edition, these are young people aged 12 to 16 years old.

340

Still on the field, 340 referees will officiate on the different courts during the tournament.

38.401

As for the stands, 38,401 seats are available for spectators on all 16 courts. Last year, 633,222 spectators attended the Porte d’Auteuil competition.

2.4 million

The prize pool for the winners in men’s and women’s singles is 2.4 million euros this year. An amount 100,000 euros higher than last year. For their part, the finalists will win 1.2 million euros each and the semi-finalists 650,000 euros.

899

This is the number of matches that will be played this year, including qualifications.

39

The age of the oldest participant in men’s singles already qualified in the main draw. This is the Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka. Conversely, the youngest player already qualified in the main draw, Jakub Mensik, is 18 years old. On the women’s side, the youngest player is Mirra Andreeva, aged 17.

6.45 million

This is the number of viewers who followed the men’s final last year. Novak Djokovic then won against the Norwegian Casper Ruud on the Philippe-Chatrier court. It remains to be seen whether the Serbian player will win his fourth title at Roland Garros this year… Response by June 9.
