After his lung transplant, Roland Kaiser remembered two sentences in particular from his daughter at the bedside.

After his lung transplant in 2010, Roland Kaiser (69) particularly touched two sentences of his then eleven-year-old daughter at the bedside. Kaiser suffered from COPD and lung disease said now in an interview with the “Bild” newspaperthat he probably wouldn’t have made it without his family.

Because of the illness, he would have had red eyes and bluish discoloration of the skin before the operation. After surviving the operation, Annalena said to him at the bedside: “Dad, you look so beautiful. You have such beautiful eyes”. Kaiser reports that he therefore had to struggle to maintain his composure. “For the first time my daughter didn’t see me as an alien with bluish skin, purple lips and red eyes, but as a perfectly normal man.” His life expectancy is now “like everyone else”.

The autobiography “Sunny Side” has just been published

In an interview with “Welt am Sonntag” Kaiser recently stated that he does not see himself as a hit star. “I make the music that I enjoy,” said the singer. But he couldn’t forbid anyone to use words like “pop star” or “hit legend”.

In his autobiography “Sunny Side”, published on October 18, the singer describes his life with many ups and downs. In it he reports about the death of his foster mother and how he once messed with Erich Honecker in a letter. Kaiser had threatened not to appear at the celebrations for 750 years of Berlin if the GDR should not let his keyboard player Franz Bartzsch (1947-2010) enter the country – and he was successful.
