Roller Champions, a development threatened by Ubisoft

In January, Ubisoft made the decision to stop tracking on Hyperscape, its battle royale, and to shut down its servers on April 28. A month later, on May 25, came out Roller Champions, whose development is already threatened. Announced in June 2019, the game will have taken almost 3 years before being released, in the most total indifference. It was during podcast #118 of XboxEra that the rumor fell, relayed by Jeff Grubb.

With an average of 100 viewers on Twitch since its release, it’s clear that Ubisoft’s futuristic sport is far from a hit. And even if the sudden stop of the development ofHyperscape was preparing us for this, it still seems early to abandon the project Roller Champions. However, this would not be surprising on the part of the publisher, who could take the opportunity to redistribute the workforce. These could then be redirected to more lucrative projects, such as Assassin’s Creed Where far cry.

During his intervention, Jeff Grubb was not stingy with information. According to his sources, the title would stop after its third season, leaving him only a few months of reprieve. Suffice to say that developers have an interest in finding the miracle solution quickly. However, these are still only rumors, and there is no indication that this will actually happen.
