Roller Champions already abandoned by Ubisoft?

Announced in 2019 and postponed multiple times, Roller Champions is finally available since May 2022. If its launch was not perfect, in particular because of numerous server problems, a multitude of curious people still tried the experience in the days that followed, since on paper, Roller Champions looked interesting.

Already the end for Roller Champions?

Unfortunately, and despite a fairly encouraging start, the attractiveness did not last and Roller Champions very quickly fell into the maze of Twitch, the only available and measurable indication, even if the persevering part of the community shows its dissatisfaction (especially with matchmaking) on social networks. Whatever, Roller Champions’ existence seems threatened, as journalist Jeff Grubb explains.

According to his information, which is often reliable, Ubisoft would have chosen to stop supporting the game after season 3, which should arrive by the end of the year (season 1 launched at the end of June). Who says end of support, says cancellation and therefore impossible to play, of course.

After the abandonment of Hyper Scape, the vertical battle royale, and the cancellation of Ghost Recon Frontline, it would therefore be a new failure for the French publisher, which seems to be struggling to think outside the box and its usual productions. Let’s hope the future is brighter for Ubisoft, especially with Skull & Bones, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and its free-to-play games such as XDefiant and The Division Heartland.

In the meantime, remember that Roller Champions is available free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series and Nintendo Switch.
