Romanian freaked out – police officers attacked after theft in shop

A Romanian was caught in the act by a department store detective on Friday when he tried to swipe bottles of schnapps in Klagenfurt. During the subsequent interrogation, the 42-year-old then freaked out.

The Romanian was in a grocery store in Klagenfurt around 5.30pm on Friday when he was spotted by the department store detective trying to steal several bottles of liquor. The 42-year-old was then taken to the shop’s lounge and questioned about his crime in the presence of the police who had been called. “Initially, the man denied the theft. But after he was shown video footage of it, he confessed,” says a police officer. The Romanian then became increasingly aggressive and insulted the officers. When he was asked to come to the Landhaushof police station, the 42-year-old freaked out. “He threw the interior of the room around and attacked the police with an overturned chair,” says one officer. The Romanian was then arrested and taken to the PAZ in Klagenfurt and reported. “An alcohol test carried out on him revealed moderate alcohol consumption.” A police officer was injured in the attack.
