Romantic encounters: here are the criteria for singles in 2024: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Who says new year says new possibilities for meeting people. After spending the end of year holidays alone, many single people want to remedy this by finding love.

As the online dating site Meetic reveals, this motivation to find your partner is evident from the first weekend of January. Indeed, it is during this period that the platform records its peak of activity entitled “Love Sunday”in particular on the number of registrations, connections and messages sent. This year, the best day to find love on Meetic was Sunday January 7. The data revealed a 23% increase in registrations compared to other Sundays in 2023, a 15% increase in messages exchanged compared to the rest of the year and a total of 152,000 messages sent.

However, even if singles are more determined than ever to find love, they still have very specific criteria about the partner they are looking for. A survey carried out by Meetic listed the expectations of singles in 2024.

What are the expectations of singles in 2024?

The survey conducted by Meetic was carried out internally in December 2023 among 802 men and women aged 18 to 64. He revealed three criteria on which singles will not make concessions in 2024 and three criteria on which they are ready to be less demanding. Concerning the expectations on which singles are not ready to give up, we find: the smell of the other for 46% of them, sharing values for 40% of them and the education that built the personality on the other for 31%.

Conversely, the willing are ready to make concessions on several criteria such as: the age of the person they are talking to for 42% of them, Her silhouette for 33% and her size for 31%. The criteria of age and physique therefore seem to be less of a priority for single people.

This survey also highlighted a new trend in romantic dating: “Dry Dating”. This involves giving up alcohol on first dates. Indeed, according to the dating platform, “more than one in two single people (54%) do not want to consume alcohol on the first date”. For a third of them (28%), this decision is justified by the fact that “consumption of alcohol on a first date does not allow you to be fully yourself.”
