Rome Masters 1000: Frenchman Alexandre Müller knocks out Andrey Rublev

This Monday, the Frenchman Alexandre Müller won against the Russian Andrey Rublev, winner in Madrid on May 5, and obtained his ticket for the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Rome. The 27-year-old Frenchman, 109th in the world, had never previously beaten players in the world’s top 20.

First victory against a world top 20 player

The 27-year-old Frenchman, 109th in the world, had never previously beaten players in the world’s top 20. He will face the Italian Stefano Napolitano (125th) or the Chilean Nicolas Jarry (24th) in the round of 16. “It’s incredible I didn’t expect to win, I knew I had my chances but it’s very special to beat Andrey,” he explained. “I changed my tactics in the 2nd set, I found the right tactics to beat him today,” he rejoiced.
