Sarah Biasini lost her mother Romy Schneider at the age of five. What the death of her mother meant for her, wrote the 43-year-old in a book that has now been published.

Acting legend Romy Schneider died of heart failure on May 29, 1982 at the age of 43. The "Sissi" actress was found lifeless in her Paris apartment. At the time, her daughter Sarah Biasini, 43, was still a child – just five years old. It comes from Schneider's second marriage to Daniel Biasini, 72. 39 years later, the French-born woman processed her ambivalent feelings towards her famous mother in a book.

Sarah Biasini: In her book she writes about her mother Romy Schneider

"La beauté du ciel" (in English: "Beauty of Heaven") is the name of the work that Biasini dedicated to her mother. The book has already been published in France and "Bild" published quotes from this personal book this week. Schneiders wrote in it Daughter among other things: "My mother is unforgettable. (…) Nobody wants to forget my mother, except me. Everyone wants to think of her, except me. Nobody would cry more than I when I started thinking about her. "

She also explains that she is not interested in the actress, only in her mother. "To call you mother is the most beautiful thing in the whole world," the 43-year-old makes it clear.

Sarah Biasini: Living in the shadow of her mother wasn't always easy

Romy Schneider was an icon during her lifetime and remained so after her death – a fact that was not always easy for her daughter. "How often have I answered 'no' when people (…) asked me on the street whether I was their daughter. I wanted peace," recalls Biasini.

In her work, the acting daughter also reports on this experience: In May 2017, strangers attacked Romy Schneider's grave. Biasini has the grave restored and takes another farewell. For her, this second funeral is a boon because it allowed her, according to her own statement, to make peace with the past.

At this point, she also learns that she is pregnant. For the actress no coincidence: "After more than 25 years of being unable to conceive, ten years without contraception, it didn't work. But now?" Their daughter was born in February 2018.
