The actor Ronald Pickup has died. He was best known for his roles in "The Crown" and "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel".

The British actor Ronald Pickup (1940-2021) is dead. This is what "The Independent" reports, citing the PA news agency. According to Pickups spokesman, the actor "passed away peacefully" with his family on Wednesday (February 24th) at the age of 80 after a long illness.

The Briton from Chester had his acting breakthrough in 1964 with the series "Doctor Who". He later appeared in the Bond film "Never Say Never", in the thriller "The Jackal" and in 2012 in "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel". In the sequel he also took on the role of pensioner Norman three years later, who wants to make a fresh start with six other pensioners in India. In 2016, he played the role of Archbishop of Canterbury in the Netflix series "The Crown".
