Ronald Powell began his football career with the college team Florida Gators and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2014. There he played several seasons as a linebacker before moving to other NFL teams and finally ending his career in 2019. Now the former professional football player has died at the age of just 32.

Former football player Ronald Powell has died

Ronald Powell’s former college football colleague Junior Galette, 35, announced the sad news on Monday, January 15, 2024, on his X account, formerly Twitter. “I love you forever, until we meet again. An excellent father, a respected brother and a loving son. I am sad to announce to the world that Ronald Powell passed away this morning. Rest in strength, Ronald Powell,” writes Galette about several of his friend’s recordings.

Under the post, numerous fans expressed their condolences and said goodbye to the linebacker, who was also under contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears. “Very sad, my condolences to his family and friends,” writes one user.

Football team pays tribute to former NFL star

The Florida Gators paid tribute to their former player on social media. “We are very saddened by the passing of former Gators player Ronald Powell. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones,” reads above a photo of Powell in a Gators jersey.

The cause of death is not yet known. Ronald Powell leaves behind two children: a son and a daughter.
