Rosalynn Carter, former First Lady of the United States, is receiving palliative care. She is in home hospice care.

Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter spend time with family

“She and President Carter are spending time together and with their family,” continues a statement from the organization founded by the Carters. “The Carter family continues to request privacy and remains grateful for the love and support shown to them.”

Last May had the Carter Center made publicthat Rosalynn Carter had been diagnosed with dementia. “She continues to live happily at home with her husband,” it was announced. For much of her life she has campaigned for mental health and against the stigma often associated with it. It is hoped that the news of Rosalynn Carter’s health could help encourage more “important conversations at kitchen tables and in doctors’ offices across the country.”

Jimmy Carter was President of the USA between 1977 and 1981. The two have been married since 1946. It became known in Februarythat the former US President is also receiving palliative care. After several hospital stays, Carter had decided to “spend the remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care in lieu of additional medical procedures.”
