The daughter of actress Roseanne Barr, Jenny Pentland, revealed in her memoir, This will be funny later, how her mother tried to make her lose weight during her childhood.
A true star of the small screen in the 90s, Roseanne Barr was the series’ headliner Roseane, which was broadcast on the American channel ABC between 1988 and 1997. This cult fiction was entitled to a new season in 2018, which was a huge audience success, with an average of 22 million viewers across the Atlantic. Faced with such a plebiscite, ABC has obviously taken the decision to renew the series for a new season. However, the management of the American chain quickly backtracked, due to a racist tweet written by Roseanne Barr.
In her message, the actress had indicated about Valerie Jarrett, the former adviser to Barack Obama, that she was “the child of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes“. Although she quickly deleted this message, the damage was already done. Afterwards, Roseanne Barr was let go by her talent agency. Now, the actress finds herself at the heart of a new controversy following the publication of the memoirs of her daughter, Jenny Pentland. In his book titled This will be funny later, the latter revealed that her mother had forcibly committed her to lose weight. Only 15 years old at the time, several men arrived at her home to kidnap her. She was handcuffed and taken to the airport against her will.
Roseanne Barr sent her daughter to a survival camp against her will
Subsequently, Jenny Pentland was interned in a survival camp. The low, the young teenager was forced to live in the middle of the forest for two months. She was thus cut off from her family, and only had the bare minimum to eat, namely grapes, peanuts, or even half-cooked beans. During his stay in this camp, Roseanne Barr’s daughter even butchered a squirrel with another person, before sharing the animal’s carcass.
In her book, Jenny Pentland also recounts one of her consultations with two camp workers. “I had to give them every piece of clothing that I took off so they can pat my pockets and look for prohibited items. Once completely naked, the woman told me she had to make sure I had given them everything, then walked around the curtain to see me standing naked. I was extremely cold, I was terrified and I felt humiliated, all this resulted in anger“, wrote the daughter of Roseanne Barr.
