Melly Böwe has her first assignment in the new “Polizeiruf 110”. This is how the new Rostock commissioner ticks.

In the new “Police call 110: You can’t choose your family” (April 24, the first), the new commissioner Melly Böwe (Lina Beckmann, 40) makes her debut. She takes over the position of the retired Sascha Bukow alias Charly Hübner (49). Hübner hands over to his wife in real life, the two have been married since 2012. In the new Rostock crime thriller, however, she is not to be seen as a future king partner, but as the police officer responsible for the specific case. But “Polizeiruf 110” fans already know that Beckmann should investigate permanently alongside Katrin König (Anneke Kim Sarnau, 50).

The two women do not necessarily meet each other with sympathy at the beginning. But “despite their differences, the two find each other at work and are then impressed by each other,” reveals Beckmann in an interview with the broadcaster. “That will also be the case in the future; Melly Böwe and the profiler will not approach each other, but will form an exciting team,” he continues.

Lina Beckmann is “impressed” by Melly Böwe

The two inspectors König and Böwe could not be more different. “They take life and its tasks very differently and deal with issues such as loneliness, pain or loss very differently,” says Beckmann. But both would work very intuitively. It was particularly important to the actresses “that two very different women meet, who find each other through their talents in their job”. They would have found that “very nice” as a tension between the two.

What does Beckmann particularly like about her character? “What impresses me about Melly is that she’s so centered; she’s not easily irritated.” In addition, she has good access to her heart, “linked to an alert mind”. Don’t think of them as naive or stupid. “And I think she’s incredibly open to everyone. That was a lot of fun while playing, that she seems to go into every situation without a visor, no matter who is in front of her.”

Melly Böwe should be completely different than Sascha Bukow

Already in the preliminary talks it became clear “that we wanted to bring something bright and mysterious to the series with Melly Böwe after the dark mystery that surrounded Sascha Bukow”. The actress wanted to invent something “completely different from Bukow”. While Böwe’s half-brother liked to take the illegal route to get to his destination, things are different with the new commissioner. “With Melly, someone comes with an upright, honest and very warm approach, even when investigating,” explains Beckmann.

When creating the character, a lot of impulses came from the editorial and production departments, as screenwriter Florian Oeller (43) reveals about the creation process. In addition, there were preliminary talks with Beckmann. “It was important to me that there was a very specific reason for Melly Böwe to break into König’s world and that this occasion had a strong emotional connection to the case.”
