Roubaix: a hairdresser of Kurdish origin injured by a client of Turkish origin

A 40-year-old “of Turkish origin” was in police custody on Tuesday after having injured with scissors on Sunday in Roubaix in the North a hairdresser “of Kurdish origin” in an altercation linked to the broadcasting of Kurdish music, a-t- we learned from a source close to the investigation. “A dispute took place Sunday, December 25 afternoon in Roubaix in a hairdressing salon between a client and a hairdresser, victim of a wound in the chest, whose vital prognosis is no longer engaged”, indicated to the AFP the prosecutor of Lille, Carole Etienne.

The 47-year-old client, slightly injured, was taken into custody for “attempted homicide”.

A vital prognosis lifted

The investigation, entrusted to the judicial police, “is in progress in order to determine very exactly the circumstances of the facts”, added the prosecutor. According to the source close to the investigation, the altercation began in the hairdressing salon and continued outside, between the client “of Turkish origin” and the hairdresser of “Iraqi Kurdish” origin.

The vital prognosis could be lifted after a surgical operation of this young man of 27 years, injured by several scissors by the client. According to this source, the client would have been “annoyed” by the Kurdish music played in the salon, which would have led to the altercation. The person in custody is already known to the police, while the victim is not, the source said.

An attack after the shooting in Paris

The news of the attack, which occurred after the act of a French pensioner who killed three Kurds on Friday in Paris, was relayed on social networks within the Kurdish community. A hundred people took part in a demonstration in the center of Lille on Tuesday afternoon at the call of Kurdish organizations after this attack and the assassinations in Paris.

“If in France we can’t listen to Kurdish music, where can we do it?” One of the demonstrators, Vénus Sedek, a law student, born in France into an Iraqi Kurdish family, was worried by AFP. Seeing the hand of Ankara in these events in Paris, the demonstrators marched to cries of “Turkey terrorist “, “Erdogan assassin” or even “Political solution for Kurdistan”.

“The Turkish secret services, omnipresent on French territory, seek to eradicate the most active Kurds in Europe by committing these abuses in France and in Europe”, accused a young woman of Kurdish origin, Adar Dogala, at the microphone. “On French territory, we are watched but not protected,” lamented to AFP an official of the Franco-Kurdish cultural association Mesopotamia, who did not want to give his name.
