The 24-year-old American proved in the fourth set that he already has the attitude of a champion: After he had to concede a break to Nadal to make it 1:3, Tiafoe immediately realized the re-break and took “Rafa” finally got the wind out of its sails with another service breakthrough.
On the way there, Tiafoe had impressively countered a drop ball from Nadal with the same shot – undoubtedly the most spectacular scene of the final sentence. After 3 hours and 34 minutes, Tiafoe finally used his 2nd match point, Nadal’s backhand only found its way into the net. The final result: 6:4, 4:6, 6:4, 6:3.
