Friborg – Servette 5:3
The ketchup bottle effect really came into its own in the case of leader Freiburg. Although the Saanestadt team were clearly the game-determining team in the middle third, the goal didn’t really work out. Until the 36th minute, when Raphael Diaz made it 1-1 on the power play. And then everything happened at once: Samuel Walser, David Desharnais and Matthias Rossi made it 4-1 for the hosts within 2:43 minutes. This more than paid off the mortgage from the first third, when Tyler Moy put Servette in the lead after a dream pass from Marco Maurer. But Geneva didn’t give up and closed the gap again to 3:4 through Noah Rod and Tanner Richard. Desharnais again ensured the decision in the 60th minute and Freiburg’s 12th home win in a row. Maurer and Dave Sutter had previously taken the fight a bit too literally and let their fists fly. Both went into the shower.
ZSC Lions – Davos 4: 3
A coach’s challenge from Davos coach Christian Wohlwend in the first third was successful, Patrick Geering’s supposed 1:0 was denied by the referee after 6 minutes of deliberation time. When trying again in the 38th minute, Wohlwend did his team a disservice. There was no offside in John Quenneville’s 3-2 power play hit. The Zurich team used the subsequent majority through Garrett Roe to make it 4:2. Matej Stransky brought hope back with his second goal of the evening, but it wasn’t enough for more. The Grisons have remained without a win in the Hallenstadion since January 2019.
Lugano – train 2:3
Lugano had lost all of the last 4 games against Zug. But with the current run, the Ticino seemed to be well on the way to breaking this negative series. Yannick Zehnder equalized Giovanni Morini’s early lead. But Luca Fazzini restored the lead in the 15th minute with his remarkable 2:1. After a goalless middle third and Niklas Hansson equalizing, it was a shorthander by Reto Suri that forced luck on the side of the central Swiss.
Biel – Ajoie 3: 0
At the first appearance since the Olympic break, Biel did not show any weakness against the bottom of the table. However, it took until the 32nd minute for Luca Hischier to open the scoring on the power play. Mike Künzle and Jere Sallinen made everything clear with a double strike within 43 seconds before the end of the middle period. Ajoie had to admit defeat for the 19th time in a row.
Bern – Langnau 3: 1
Langnau simply cannot win against Bern this season: The Emmentaler lost 3-1 in the 4th “Tatzenderby”. The guests had left the more active impression in the capital in the early part of the game. With the first shot in the middle third, Thierry Bader finally heralded the Tigers’ 14th bankruptcy in a row after 17 seconds. A criminally abandoned Joshua Fahrni in the middle of the game and Colin Gerber (47th) ensured the decision in favor of the “Mutzen” early on – Flavio Schmutz’ consolation goal (49th) went unpunished.
Ambri – Lausanne 3:5
Ambri sabotaged himself several times in the 3:5 win against Lausanne. The defensive vulnerabilities in the Leventine game weighed too heavily in the end, while the hosts had long kept their chances of winning a point with three goals in the lead. Particularly worth seeing was the first goal of the Tessiner by Michael Fora, who had scored from the blue line after a Lausanne double strike in minutes 7 and 8. After the 5th Lausanne goal by Christoph Bertschy (46th) for the later final score, the “Biancoblu” failed to rebel.
