Round-up National League – Kloten beats in vain – Lugano wins Ticino derby – Sport

  • In the Friday games of the National League, the ZSC Lions celebrated their sixth win in a row and defended the leadership throne.
  • The first pursuer remains Fribourg-Gottéron, which sends Zug home 5-2.
  • Lugano defeated Ambri-Piotta in a penalty shootout in the Ticino derby, while SC Bern and Langnau achieved narrow victories.

ZSC Lions – Kloten 5:1

Despite the mammoth program, the ZSC Lions cannot be stopped. The Zurich team, who played their fifth game in seven days with the derby against Kloten, achieved their sixth win in a row. The home team made the difference in the starting third: New signings Rudolfs Balcers (4th) and Derek Grant (11th) benefited from rebounds from Kloten goalie Juha Metsola. Even before the first siren, Willy Riedi made it 3-0 with his first goal of the season. When Justin Sigrist added a fourth goal in the 26th minute, the game was already decided. Two hearty scuffles then created a playoff atmosphere, which resulted in the exclusion of Chris Baltisberger and Marc Marchon.

Fribourg-Gottéron – Zug 5:2

The ZSC Lions’ first pursuer remains Fribourg-Gottéron. The efficient Saanestadt team brought about the decision against Zug in the final third. Christoph Bertschy (44th) and Lucas Wallmark (46th) scored two goals within two minutes to make it 2-1 to 4-1 and thus pulled the plug on the guests from central Switzerland. Coach Dan Tangnes’ team came within 2:4, but Sandro Schmid secured a well-deserved home win with a nice individual performance. This ends a successful streak of 4 wins in a row for Zug.

Lugano – Ambri-Piotta 4:3 nP

The 250th Ticino derby, the first this season, has become the prey of Lugano. The “Bianconeri” made up for a 0:2 and a 2:3 deficit and secured the extra point they deserved in the penalty shootout. The supposed winning goal for Luganesi in regular time by Arttu Ruotsalainen (57th) was disallowed after a coaches challenge (Offisde). Lugano recorded almost 4 times as many shots as Ambri (43:11).

Geneva-Servette – Rapperswil-Jona 4:1

So far this season, Geneva-Servette has always been on top of its game away from home, but at home the champions remain without losing any points. The team was able to refute his coach’s recent accusation after the 7-2 defeat in Davos that they simply weren’t ready in their heads. Against the Lakers, the Geneva team scored one goal within the first 5 minutes in each third. For the generally harmless Rapperswil, Nicklas Jensen (45th) was only able to shorten the score, while Noah Rod hit the empty goal. The Eastern Swiss have to let their western competitors overtake them in the table.

Ajoie – Bern 1:2

SC Bern had a lackluster away win. After two recent defeats – including the 6-1 defeat at home against the ZSC Lions – the capital city team prevailed in the Jura thanks to Marco Lehmann’s late winning goal (56th). The SCB striker poked the disc over the line shortly after the hosts’ penalty expired. It was Ajoie’s first home defeat of the season.

Biel – SCL Tigers 1:2 nP

Biel trailed for a long time against the bottom team – Aleksi Saarela had scored for the fourth time this season after 10 minutes. The 4th power play then bore fruit, Toni Rajala (45th) equalized. Also because the Tigers subsequently left a double majority unused and extra time also remained goalless, the penalty shootout had to decide. The Tigers impressed there and ended a 5-game losing streak.
