  • Bern defeats the HCD 4:3 after overtime and gets the 5th win in a row.
  • Kloten loses 0:5 at leader Geneva and takes over the red lantern from the Tigers.

Tigers – Lugano 6: 1

Anyone who has not yet spoken of a crisis in the Luganesi must now rethink. At the SCL Tigers, bottom of the league, the Ticino team caught a 1:6 pack and slipped to 13th and penultimate place in the table. The Langnauer, on the other hand, climbed to 12th place thanks to the win. The Luganesi actually started powerfully. However, a double deficit led to the Tigers’ first goal from Harri Pesonen (6th). And this gave the Emmentalers wings: They created chance after chance, Marc Michaelis was able to make it 2-0 (18th).

Lugano finally finished the middle third: again outnumbered, Flavio Schmutz made it 3-0 (29′), Michaelis was left alone to make it 4-0 (35′) and Pesonen scored the third power-play goal (37′). Several penalties followed before the second siren, but Riccardo Werder’s check against the head enabled the Tigers to act almost 2 minutes outnumbered and to net again. Aleksi Saarela was successful (43rd). The 1: 6 by Giovanni Morini (56th) could not improve the sad mood of the Luganesi.

Davos – Berne 3: 4 aet

SC Bern is still on the up. When they played in the Landwassertal, the “Mutzen” won 4:3 after extra time. The Bernese shouldn’t be completely satisfied, however, as they were 3-1 up to the 58th minute. Thanks to goals from Matej Stransky and Magnus Nygren, Davos was able to equalize again. In extra time, it was Chris DiDomenico who scored the winning goal for Bern after just 29 seconds. HCD trainer Christian Wohlwend took his goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann off the field in extra time in order to be able to play with one man more – the risk was not rewarded.

Geneva – Kloten 5:0

Meanwhile, there was nothing to gain on Saturday evening for promoted Kloten, who had been successful against the Tigers the day before. Coach Jeff Tomlinson’s team didn’t stand a chance when they played with the leader in Geneva. After the first period it was already 3:0 for the western Swiss, in the end the Zurich team had to start their journey home with a 0:5 defeat in their luggage. Kloten takes over the red lantern from Langnau again.

Ambri-Piotta – ZSC 2:3 nP

The Geneva team’s first pursuer, already 8 points behind, is the still surprisingly strong Ambri-Piotta. Nevertheless, the Leventine will be annoyed. After a 2:0 lead, they lost 2:3 after a penalty shoot-out against the ZSC Lions. The Ticino team only conceded the equalizer from Juho Lammikko in the 58th minute. After the last 4 wins in a row, Ambri-Piotta has to leave the ice again as a loser.

EV Zug – Rapperswil-Jona 3:0

Swiss champions Zug have found their way back to winning ways after 3 league defeats in a row. The game against the Lakers was balanced for long stretches. Zug took the lead (26′) thanks to a strong finish from Brian O’Neill, but was unable to follow up. There were numerous chances for both sides, but it was only at the end that the home team finally decided the game. Sven Senteler after a rush (58th) and Grégory Hofmann with an empty netter and thus his 3rd goal in the 3rd game (60th) ensured the clear result, but it poorly described the game.
