- The Netherlands beat Belgium 1-0 in Amsterdam and easily move into next summer’s Nations League final tournament.

League A, Group 4: Netherlands win Prestige duel, Wales are relegated
- Netherlands 1-0 Belgium
In a “Derby der Lage Landen” poor in highlights, it took up to the 73rd minute for Virgil van Dijk to score the only goal of the game with a header. Dodi Lukebakio almost made it 1-1 spectacularly in added time. But his remarkable overhead kick landed on the crossbar. The Netherlands, who had won 4-1 away against the 2018 World Cup third team, limited themselves to the bare minimum in Amsterdam. With 16 points from 6 games, Louis van Gaal’s team is confident and undefeated in next summer’s Final Four tournament. Since the round of 16 out at the European Championships last year against the Czech Republic, the Dutch have not lost in 15 games.
Wales would have had to beat Poland to avoid relegation to League B. However, the game in Cardiff did not go as planned from the British point of view. Karol Swiderski gave the guests the lead after just under an hour after a nice play through with Robert Lewandowski. Gareth Bale missed the equalizer in added time with a late header. Wales have only picked up one point in 6 games.
- Austria – Croatia 1:3
For a long time, the Austrians had hopes of surprisingly staying up in the hammer group. The early lead by Luka Modric (6th) was immediately equalized by Christoph Baumgartner (9th). Shortly before the break, Marko Arnautovic, who overtook Andreas Herzog with his 104th international match and is now the sole record national player, missed the lead twice. After the change of sides and many substitutions on both sides, the Croatians took over the scepter. A double strike with header goals by Marko Livaja (69th) and Dejan Lovren (72nd) sealed the Croatian group victory and the Austrian relegation from League A.
- Denmark 2-0 France
Denmark, who had to hope for a Croatian slip to qualify for the final four, got off to a keen start at their home Parkenstadion. Kasper Dolberg (34′) and Andreas Skov Olsen (39′) put the Danes ahead by 2 lengths before the break against a disappointing French team. In the second half, it was Kylian Mbappé who came closest to scoring a French goal. Between the 67th and 70th minute, however, he failed three times at the brilliant Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. So it stayed with the 2-0 win for Denmark.
