Charles and Camilla graced the opening day of the Ascot horse races. Other members of the Royal Family were also in attendance.

Royal Ascot, the prestigious horse race, is attracting high-ranking royals again this year. Right at the start of the event, which will take place from June 18 to 22 in the heart of Berkshire, King Charles (75) and Queen Camilla (76) did themselves the honour. The couple arrived in a carriage, as is tradition.

With hat and top hat

Charles wore a top hat with a tailcoat, as required by the Ascot dress code. He wore a lemon yellow waistcoat and a light blue tie with his grey suit. Camilla opted for an ensemble in strong blue. She also followed the dress code, as colourful and extravagant hats are obligatory at the event, which is also known as a fashion event. The 76-year-old wore a voluminous version in strong blue. As “The Sun” reports, the couple appeared to be in a great mood and waved to the crowd during the traditional carriage procession. Charles’ sister Princess Anne (73), her daughter Zara Tindall (43) and her husband Mike Tindall (45) as well as Lady Gabriella Windsor (43), daughter of Prince Michael of Kent (81), were also among the guests on Tuesday.

The five-day event was considered the favorite event of the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). Charles has a number of horses that will compete in the race. The monarch, who is undergoing cancer treatment, announced on Tuesday, according to the Sun, that he will not appear at Ascot next Wednesday. On the second day of the event, Camilla is therefore expected to have a different companion. The following day, however, Charles plans to attend the event again.
