Royal House of Bhutan: The Life of Jigme and Jetsun

King Jigme and his civil wife, Queen Jetsun, have ruled the small Kingdom of Bhutan in Asia since 2006 when the king’s father, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, son of Jigme Dorje Wangchuck, stepped down from his position and left the field to the younger generation. He was also someone who would have stood for modernity and many reforms – an inheritance that his son takes on with ease.

Jigme and Jetsun are idolized by their people and frequent the land and holy places. Since a small heir to the throne joined the royal family in 2016, the family is perhaps even more popular. The little one bears – surprise – the name Jigme (Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk). Tradition also has its place … and the colorful long coats that so-called ghosthat the kings wear should not be missing either and illuminate every photo that reaches us from Bhutan.
