Royal News about Princess Märtha Louise: "It almost hurt physically"

Princess Märtha Louise, 48, has been the daughter of King Harald of Norway, 83, and Queen Sonja, 82, in the public eye since her birth. A situation that you have to deal with.

Princess Märtha Louise was "afraid"

In an interview with the Sunday edition of the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" she admits: "I was afraid to stand on the stage and talk to people, but I had to because it was part of my public role." She adds, "It's something I've endured all my life. I couldn't handle it at all as a child. But I've become safer since I've gotten older."

Especially in her home country of Norway, but also in other European countries and in the USA, she is a popular topic in the press. Märtha: "After a long life in public, I am not surprised that people want to know something about me, and I have strangely got used to it." Nevertheless: If she criticized someone in the past, "it was really close, it almost hurt physically" she admits to "Aftonbladet".

A princess in criticism

It offers enough scope for criticism, because the balancing act between fulfilling one's duty and personal interests is not an easy one. Märtha Louise says of herself that she has clairvoyant powers and communicates with animals and angels via telepathy. Their relationship (and later marriage) with the now deceased Ari Behn († 47) was initially viewed with suspicion. Not to mention her current partner, the self-declared shaman Durek Verrett, 45. Princess Märtha Louise also describes herself as hypersensitive.

"For a long time I thought I was crazy, but today I realized that I am only sensitive. It was really a relief," she said in an interview. She cries often and loudly and finds nothing strange about it, she added. That also happened when the media broke up their relationship with shaman Durek. "I cried in front of my girlfriend, lay in bed and trembled. Every time I opened a door, there was a camera on my face (…)."

Princess Märtha Louise has since found more inner peace. Norwegian newspapers even speculate about an engagement with Durek Verrett.
