Royal-News: Princess Mary's best friend unpacks

Princess Mary's best friend unpacks

Amber Petty is the best friend of Denmark's Crown Princess Mary, 48. Before she married heir to the throne Prince Frederik of Denmark, 51, in 2004, founded a family with him and had four children, Mary lived in Australia. Tasmania-born and Amber Petty are best friends and when Mary gave the dream prince in 2004, her friend was there as a bridesmaid and was happy for her close confidante. Amber Petty recently launched her new tarot card project on Australian television, and also talked about losing her friendship with Crown Princess Mary after she married Denmark's heir to the throne. "If something changes, such as your best friend getting married, regardless of whether she marries into a royal family or not, that's the end of your friendship as it was before," said Amber. The fact that Princess Mary moved to Denmark to marry Prince Frederik had of course not done her friendship and closeness well either.

"We lost what we had, of course."

Nevertheless, the two women still have a good relationship with each other today. "We are very, very close to this day, so I didn't lose them – but we lost what we had and I loved what we had." Amber still misses the good old days. "We were so close and we could talk about everything whenever we wanted – that was taken away from us."
