Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave a surprisingly direct interview. Many parallels to Diana's 1995 reveal interview are evident.
Even before Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's big interview with Oprah Winfrey was even aired, it was publicly compared to Harry's mother Diana’s TV conversation. In 1995 she opened up in conversation with a BBC journalist about how bad it really looked in her life and how badly she was treated by the Royal Family.
Desperate setback in public
The author and royals expert Beatrix Campbell is therefore very sure that Harry used his mother as a role model in his conversation with Oprah. Diana started a public debate at the time, which for many people put the entire royal family in a new light – whether the interview with Harry and Meghan will have a similar effect remains to be seen.
